Volunteer small equipment grants funding announced

29 Nov, 2006 01:56 PM
THE latest round of the Volunteer Small Equipment Grants have been announced, providing $66,452 for 37 groups in the Paterson electorate to assist volunteers.

The Federal Member for Paterson, Bob Baldwin, said the funding provides basic support for volunteers to make their work easier, safer and more enjoyable.

In our local area, funding has been approved for the following organisations:

* Karuah RSL Sub Branch: $400 - cupboard/cabinet.

* Tea Gardens Baptist Church: $2200 - camera, computer laptop.

* Tea Gardens Hawks Nest Surf Lifesaving Club: $2137 - public address system.

* Tea Gardens RSL Women's Auxiliary: $132 - catering teapots.

* Tea Gardens Hawks Nest Lioness Club: $2369 - sunshade.

"These grants allow organisations, which may not otherwise be able to afford it, purchase a variety of equipment items," Mr Baldwin said.

"Volunteers provide essential support and services to members of the community who are most in need and I welcome the Australian Government's support for our local volunteers."

All applicants will be notified in writing as to the outcome of their application. Notice of future VSE rounds will be available on www.facsia.gov.au and advertised in metropolitan, rural and regional newspapers across Australia.
