Waiting for development decision

15 Jan, 2009 10:49 AM
HAWKS Nest residents awaiting a final decision about the development of land either side of King Fisher Avenue won’t see an outcome until next month, at least.

The five year struggle over the proposed development continues to be fought out between residents and North Residential Pty Ltd in the Land and Environment Court.

Residents and members of the Myall Koala and Environmental Support Group are concerned the development will impinge on an already endangered local Koala population.

NSW State Department of Planning senior legal officer Malcolm McDonald said a decision is some weeks away.

“Following the final hearing a reserve decision will be made and two commissioners involved will write a final judgement that could take from four to six weeks to be finalised.”

A final hearing date for the King Fisher Avenue development has been scheduled for Monday, February 2 in Sydney.
