We will remember them

The weather was kind to the Tea Gardens RSL Sub Branch for their Remembrance Day Service.

A great crowd gathered for the special 89th armistice Remembrance Day service.

Anglican Reverand Allan Bate dedicated the three new bench seats, each donated by the Myall Coast Rotary Club, the late Keith Hodgekinson and the family of the Late Snowy Hitchcock. Snowy’s wife and family travelled from Sydney for this special day.

Both federal election candidates were represented.

Jim Arneman and Bob Baldwin’s secretary Michelle Otterman were in attendance.

Mr Baldwin had already given the sub branch a new extra large flag to fly on the day. A very colourful flag party formed up in front of the war memorial and it was a very moving moment as president Ron Franks read out the names of the 17 remembrance plaques for our departed sub branch members.

As at every Remembrance Day service our wonderful Tea Gardens RSL Ladies Auxiliary members served morning tea at the conclusion of the service.

With the absence of their president, Connie McDonald who is in hospital, the secretary Lois McShane read out the tribute and wreath lying during the service.

Mike Danks, our vocalist, led the service in singing the hymns and a very rousing national anthem.
