Whose nose is that?

Residents of Tea Gardens Hawks Nest went red for a reason last Friday.

Red noses, pens, key rings and car magnets were in abundance as Red Nose Day was celebrated around the country.

At Hawks Nest Pharmacy, staff donned red noses and badges in support of the SIDS and Kids initiative, while at Tea Gardens Preschool children ran about in red noses.

Red Nose Day is the major fundraiser for SIDS and Kids, which is dedicated to the elimination of sudden and unexpected infant death.

Since 1990, the SIDS and Kids Safe Sleeping program has been instrumental in reducing the SIDS infant mortality rate by 90 per cent.

More than 4,500 Australian babies have been saved thanks to Red Nose Day, but around 200 children still die suddenly and unexpectedly every month.

SIDS and Kids provides support for those affected by such deaths and also raises funds and awareness of SIDS and other childhood-related illnesses.
