Juniors show their skills in first competition game

14 Oct, 2008 03:39 PM
TEA Gardens Karuah Under 12s cricket team came up against two of our players old club, Port Stephens, in their first match at Karuah.

Tea Gardens families formed the spectator base to watch the newly formed team take last year’s most successful side to the wire.

It was very nearly the dream start for our team as they remained a chance throughout the game with victory only being snatched in the last five balls.

Luke Ireland captained, made a great run out and bowled well. Mathew Price was chosen as player of the match for batting through the entire innings except for two balls and his bowling while Jackson Page bowled with venom, took a catch and second top scored.

Stanley To was the outstanding bowler getting two from four while Matt Smith took a catch and Trent Page a wicket.

It was a great performance by the team who can choose from a squad of 13 for next week’s match at Hinton.

Thank you to team sponsors KS Industries, Tea Gardens Real Estate and A-Line Bricklaying for enabling the children to play for their home town.
