FRIDAY, May 16, marked round six of the Football Mid North Coast Competition as the bullets ladies travelled to Tuncurry to face the Tuncurry Forster Hawkettes.
Sitting comfortably on top of the competition ladder and yet to concede a gaol going into the match the Bullet girls weren’t about to relax and let the Hawkettes ruin their unbeaten run.
Wanting to prove that they are true contenders for the title the Bullet girls set themselves the task of dominating their opponent’s territory but failed to convert some early chances.
When on the counter the bullets were caught off guard with the Hawketts slotting one into the back of the Bullets net.
The Bullets went behind on the score board for the first time this season.
A true test of the Bullets metal had now presented itself.
Remaining composed it didn’t take long before the Bullets hit back, through Cathryn Guthrie, sending the girls to the sheds locked at one all.
With the match reaching boiling point towards the end of the first half, the second was set to explode as the physical aspect of the Hawkettes game became increasingly more dangerous with every tackle.
Keeping their wits and through playing some beautiful football the Bullets continued to dominate the Hawkettes as vice captain Kelly Plowman slotted home the Bullets second for the evening and her ninth for the year.
This was followed closely by a third goal from Sara Longworth, handing the Bullets a three to one victory and their sixth successive match at the top of the premiership table.
The Bullets best for the night went to captain Janna-Bree Dowling who battled through injury to post one of her most impressive matches this season, and was unlucky not to get on the scorecard.
The Bullets next face the Lansdowne Lionesses from 7pm at Boronia Park Forster this Friday.
