Thursday November 15 marked round three of the Bulahdelah Soccer Club Twilight Competition
After braving the wet conditions the previous week it was great to see the sun shining, bringing the crowds back for yet another top afternoon of football. The afternoon kicked off on field one with first placed Blue Lightning FC tackling new comers Mellow Yellow, who stretched the competition front runners until the final whistle, with Blue Lightning FC snatching a victory 1-0 in the dying minutes of the match.
Field two saw a derby between the local under 14s with Down to Earth Paving Pythons to good for Salinga running away with an 8-2 win.
The second round matches kicked off at 6.30pm with the ‘troops from the south’, Tea Gardens Hotel, taking on the Myall River Bullrouts on field one.
In a close encounter it was Tea Gardens Hotel who prevailed taking home a 2-0 victory.
On field two Harvey’s Heralds forfeited to Pink Panthers.
The third round of matches got underway at 7.30pm on field one with Dad’s Army climbing Mt Everest to cause the biggest upset of the competition so far, defeating last years runner up Mayer’s Flat Marauders 1-0.
In a close contest it took a massive defensive effort from Dad’s Army to hang on to a late 1-0 lead, with Mayer’s Flat unlucky not to have equalised in the dying moments of the match.
Field two saw defending champions Illusions, take on the Plough Inn.
After a tough match the previous round in a grand final replay against Mayer’s Flat Marauders, with Illusions taking home an impressive 4-1 win, they looked keen to get back on the park this week playing some good football and running away with the match 12-1.
