First hat trick of the season for captain

First hat trick of the season for captain

12 Aug, 2010 12:59 PM
WITH the previous round washed out, the Bulahdelah Bullets were eager to hit the field in round 17 of the Football Mid North Coast Premiership against the Old Bar Barbarians.

After suffering a narrow defeat to Tuncurry Forster Tigers FC in their last game, the Bullets were keen to get their season back on track. With both teams needing a win to keep their semi finals hopes alive the stage was set for an enthralling afternoon of football.

Sticking with the reshuffled formation they used against the Tigers, the Bullets took to the field with confidence and played that way for the entire match. Snatching an early advantage through some great lead up play, captain Dylan Guthrie slotted home the first goal of the match for the Bullets, followed closely by a second from new found striker Nathan Makila who pounced on a loose ball, after the Barbarians’ keeper was forced into making a great save from a rocket fired via Dylan’s boot. It was shaping up to be a good outing for the Bullets going to the break 2-0 in front. The second stanza saw Old Bar press early to try and gain some ascendency in the match, but it would be the Bullets again finding the back of the net.

Brad Keaton played a beautiful ball through to, yet again, the Bullets captain Dylan who slotted home his second for the match. Despite the score line, the Barbarians continued to push the Bullets with some stand-out players stepping up for the Barbarians in the middle of the park. Despite their efforts though, the Bullets had too much class on the day and hadn’t finished yet, as Trent Lamborn linked up with Dylan who scored his third taking home his first hat-trick for the season and earning him MVP of the match.

Final score Bullets 4, Old Bar Barbarians 0. Honourable mentions also go to Nathan Makila, Bushy Carrall, Jake Hacene, Trent Lamborn and the entire back line, a great team effort by all.

The Bullets now travel to Hallidays Point to take on one of the competition front runners, the Barracudas and will back up on Sunday for the local derby against the Bulahdelah Gunners.
