As a result of Mitchell's performances at the 2006 NSW Combined High Schools Championships held at Eastern Creek, he has been invited to participate in a Cross Country Tour to the United States in September this year.

The tour provides athletes with four competitions which are based in the Las Vegas area.

Usually, the only athletes who have the privilege of competing overseas are of a national standard. This opportunity will probably only come once in a lifetime for other athletes.

Mitchell is currently completing Year 8 at Bulahdelah Central School.

He has performed well over the past two years in cross country, swimming and athletics, at regional and state levels.

Mitchell was awarded BCS Junior Boy Champion in 2006 and 2007.

To help with the cost of his overseas trip, Mitchell is fundraising around town, with raffles and the like.

A big thank you to Stuart and Carol from Hawks Nest Sports Store for donating a $400 push bike to raffle.
