ON Monday August 9 five players including Jerry Guinnes, Ann Browning, Joy Orvis and Bev and Geoff Latona played singles (every man for himself).
We enjoyed four games with each player scoring the occasional hoop and played until we reached a score of thirteen.
The game dynamics were quite different than playing with a partner and games were very competitive.
Saturday August 21 10 members played including Stephen Dodds (son of Sue), a visitor experiencing his first ever game of croquet.
“This game is much harder than it looks,” Stephen said.
Also on the courts were Fran Henderson, Lovie Maloney, Jenny Holligan, and Michael and Mary Bone.
In the first game the Bones scored seven points while Stephen Dodds and Joy Orvis scored six points. We played three games with the usual tea/coffee break in between games.
Please note both days commence at 8.45am for a 9pm start.
A reminder that our treasurer Natalie Rowney (4997 2258) asks members to contact her if they require a name badge or a t-shirt.
Please consider a game of croquet on a Monday, or Saturday as it is a challenging fun-loving, but competitive game given that some thought and strategy is involved.
Contact secretary, Liz Burgess on 4997 0461.
If any member wishes to have a game of croquet (Association Rules or ricochet) during the week other than our normal playing days, please contact Tony Jones, vice president on 4997 0816.
