THE Bulahdelah Fishing Club held its second outing for the year last weekend with a total of 23 anglers signing on for the outing.
The weather conditions were far from ideal for fishing, with strong north easterly winds turning most beaches into flat sand blown lakes, and with the oceans temperatures as low as 15 degrees, which is unusual for this time of year, made the task of catching a feed of fish challenging to say the least, at least that's the excuse I'm using.
Despite these trying conditions, some nice fish were weighed in with the results turning out to be a carbon copy of the previous outing.
Coming in at first place in the men's division was Nigel Baker with a nice bag of Drummer, some Bream and a monster of a Blue Groper, which topped the scales at 7.455 kgs.
The women's was taken out by Angela Battle with a couple of Stockton Beach Salmon, with Pat Baker coming in a close second with some nice Drummer.
The winner of the juniors went to Guy Higgins with a Drummer.
In the sub junior section no fish were weighed in, and with this being a brand new class in the club we would really like to encourage the little kids to get out there and have a crack at landing a few fish, maybe with the help of some mums and dads.
The weigh in was held at the Bulahdelah Bowling Club with the club raffle being won by Barry Griffis and the mystery prize for the weekend went to Tony Wheelbarrow Velovski (I can spell Wheelbarrow Tony but I don't know if I spelt Velovski right) with a Jewie, currently the biggest of the year weighing 1.375 kgs.
The club's next outing will be the local Mate Against Mate challenge, which is on the weekend of March 3 and 4.
The next big news is the running of the annual Bulahdelah Bass Bash to be held in a couple of weeks time on the weekend of February 10 and 11.
Donations from the event will be donated to the Westpac Helicopter and the fingerling restocking fund.
It's going to be bigger and better than ever with heaps of prizes on offer so start getting the gear in order, there will be more information about the Bash in next weeks paper or check out the posters placed around the place.
Until next time, good fishin.
