ELEVEN athletes from Tea Gardens Runners have been selected to compete in the Little Athletics Regional Championships in February.
Tea Gardens Little Athletics trainer Charles Ringuet said 11 was a tremendous number when considering that they were not a particularly large group. With about 40 people being its highest membership number.
He said the children going through to regionals had "very good prospects for state".
"I think at least seven will go on to state," Mr Ringuet said.
Matthew Williams who is heading to the championships said the regionals were "pretty intense last time" but he was feeling "a lot more confident this year".
Having been ranked first place in the three kilometre run at zone has put him in a good position for the race.
Megan Markham was also rated number on in the three kilometre run at zone while Shannon Markham was rated number one in high jump.
Teegan Barr who is heading to the regionals for the first time said she was excited but nervous about the level of competition.
The regional championships are set to be held in Glendale on February 19 and 20 and will see the athletes from Tea Gardens Runners compete against clubs from the Northern Rivers, Mid North Coast and the Hunter, Port Hunter and Lake Macquarie.
