Australia's most successful amateur women's golfing tournament, the Fisher and Paykel Classic, will stage its first round of competition at the Hawks Nest Golf Club on July 21 and 24.
Supported by Golf Australia and sponsored by Fisher and Paykel, the prize pool is attractive, including Fisher and Paykel products and a chance to play in the Classic's State and National Finals, as well as an invitation to attend and meet the tournament players at the MFS Women's Australian Open next year.
Local winners from more than 500 clubs expected to participate in this year's single Stableford event will receive an invitation to play in the Classic's State championship later in the year.
The best two scores in each State event will then be eligible for an all-expenses-paid trip to compete in the Fisher and Paykel Classic Final, to be held as a prelude to the Women's Australian Open event.
"We received an amazing response to the Classic in its first year, with more than 22,000 golfers registering to participate, making it the biggest and most successful women's amateur golfing event ever staged in Australia," Fisher and Paykel's marketing manager Peter Russell said.
"We anticipate the 2007-2008 year to be even more successful."
