Bookings piling in for next year’s tournament

THE recent Hawks Nest Gold Club veteran’s tournament has been deemed a success with a maximum entry of requests already received for next year’s event.

The week long tournament attracted some 280 players representing 61 clubs from NSW and interstate.

Mike O’Keefe from the North Ryde club hit the week’s only hole in one and was the recipient of a $500 prize from Woodlands Seafood and Grill taken.

The tournament’s presentation evening attracted over golfers and their partners with the night’s $4200 in proceeds donated to the Victorian Bushfire Appeal.

NSW Veteran Golf Association trophy winners for the men’s championship were John Jackson from Wakehurst 44pts 1st, Vernon Roberts from Muree 41pts 2nd, Barry Hayes from Ryde Parramatta 40pts 3rd. In the ladies Karen Booth from Tuggerah Lakes was 1st on 40pts C/B, Diane McLean of Nelson Bay came in 2nd on 40pts and Chrystal Freeman 3rd on 39pts.
