FUNDRAISING was the name of the game last Friday for the Hawks Nest Golf Club’s annual Anzac Tournament. Approximately $2500 raised from raffles, entry fees and business donations will go towards the maintenance of Tea Gardens Anzac Memorial Park.
More than 144 players contributed $20 for the game and were fed lunch by Woodland’s Restaurant and a free drink from the golf club. Included in the fun of the day was an honorary captain dressed appropriately on the tenth hole collecting a gold coin donation for a try to get your ball into a circle on the green but only two people were able to achieve it.
No one was able to score a flat screen TV donated by Hawks Nest Caravan Park for landing a hole in one.
Organisers say a great day was had by all with meat raffles, auctions for a chip-in net donated by Drummond Golf bought by Fran Henderson, a gold putter donated by Peter Smith bought by Lillian Bull, Ski-Tube donated by Tea Gardens Marine and Garage bought by Graham Hockings and a $100 voucher from NRMA bought by Brian Jones raising $445 in total.
Organisers thanked every local business who donated their goods and services to make the day successful.
