THE Hawks Nest Golf Club Lady golfers were keeping their fingers crossed for a break in the weather for their annual open day and their prayers were answered.
On Friday July 30, 133 players representing 17 clubs from the district plus some of our own Hawks Nest ladies played in almost perfect golfing conditions.
This year’s open day, proudly sponsored by Fay Clarke was a Stableford team event, with one score counting on the par 3s, two on the par 4s,and three on the par 5s.
It was a good format for a shotgun start and play flowed smoothly.
Morning tea was supplied by the local members and was much appreciated. Thankyou to all those who cooked for the day.
A welcome lunch followed the golf and many raffle prizes were on offer. Thankyou to Fay our sponsor and all the donors of the raffle prizes.
The course was looking great and many ladies commented on the joy of not playing in the mud after so much rain. Thankyou to Damien and his staff for setting up the course.
We would also like to thank all the volunteers on the day who raked bunkers and acted as spotters, your time was much appreciated.
Steve and Eddy looked after the ladies in the Pro shop.
The winners of the day were D.Jones, K.Austin, M.Bell and V.Taylor from Belmont with a score of 94. Runners up were R.Richardson, C.Henderson, M. Pegram and D.Frew from Hawks Nest with a score of 91.
