ON Saturday, June 6, in freezing cold weather and gale force winds, Bulahdelah Bowling Club's Number Five Grade Pennant Team travelled to Wingham to play Gloucester in the sectional playoff for the Manning District Title.
Bulahdelah made the sectional playoffs in 2005 only to be defeated.
The difference in the team this year has been a more positive approach, increased confidence in their ability and an unrelenting determination to bring home the prized District Pennant Flag.
Our goals are now set much higher in the pursuit of the Zone Title and beyond to state level.
It is not a time to recognise individual efforts, although there are quite a few that can be done at a later date, but it is time to mention that it is a team sport and the total commitment from all 13 players has been extremely satisfying from a selector/ manager point of view.
The players would also like to take this opportunity to publicly thank the club and members for their support and encouragement, and especially those brave souls who traveled in dreadful conditions to Wingham to watch the game.
The team: Don Korsman, Rod Gregory, Bill King, Bob Richards, Gary Mackenzie, Rad Turnbull, Graham Chapman, Jack Hawkins, Leo Kierans, Paul Syron, Ken Southern, Kerry Woodward and Steve Pell.
The Zone Competition is to be played on Saturday, June 24, starting at 9.15am at Tuncurry Bowling Club.
We invite any interested spectators to come along on the day to support the side in our endevours to secure the Zone Title.
