ON Saturday, March 18, the Raymond Terrace U/12 "Greens" played in the Grand Final against Wests at East Maitland.
What makes this game of interest to our community is that seven local boys from Tea Gardens make up half the team, with Coach Greg Levick and his son James (team member) being former residents.
Local boys Liam Mason, Ethan Wisemantel, Matthew Palmer, Mitchell Baker, Jack Stonestreet, Jay Reynolds and James Farmer have been attending training in Raymond Terrace on Tuesday afternoons, as well as turning up to play (with some yawning parents) at 8.15am Saturday's at grounds as far away as Dungog.
The boys have really enjoyed the season and the teamwork, the encouragement and support they display toward each other has been terrific.
Thanks must go to Greg Levick who has taken on the coaching position with great enthusiasm. The boys have really appreciated his assistance and guidance throughout the season. Thanks must also go to Graham Baker who helped out at training, and all the parents who helped out throughout the season.
Unfortunately, our boys lost the Grand Final, but still enjoyed themselves thoroughly in the spirit of good sportsmanship.
The boys presented Greg with a small gift after the game, and Greg reciprocated by shouting the team some soft drinks and snacks. Greg is looking forward to next season, and he is hoping to stay on as Coach and keep the boys together as a team in 2007.
