Locals bowl out of finals

14 Aug, 2008 09:07 AM
A supportive cheer squad of approximatly 30 residents accompanied the Tea Gardens Country Club mens team to a blizzardly cold Bathurst on August 2.

With temperatures dropping to -2 degrees the State Pennant Finals were very cold.

Our representatives gave a very good account of themselves.

Results

Tea Gardens verse Cootamundra: Denis Ashbridge’s team won 20-18, Jim Morrison’s team won 21-18 and Jeff Baker’s team lost 19-24.

Tea Gardens verse Crookwell scores were Denis Ashbridge’s team tied 20-20, Jim Morrison’s team lost 18-19 and Jeff Baker’s team lost 9-28.

Tea Gardens verse Taren Point scores were Denis Ashbridge team lost 18-20 and Jeff Baker team lost 15-22.

All good tight games but regretfully we did not bring home the trophy. Incidentally, Cootamundra went on to contest the final but they lost that one.

Well done to all concerned and special thanks to Noel Jackson for leading the teams and organising all the arrangements.

I have it on very good authority that the associated social activities were worth the trip apart from the bowling.

In other results

Sunday August 3: A good win to Paul Carter, John Slater and Magda Read 20-5 and the runners up Bob Bates, Bill Moon and E Marks Tatter.

Wednesday August 6: Triples, first Bob Foster, Lance Atkins and Doug Simpson. Second Terry Eyles, Kevin Barbie and Col Amos.

We bowl most days of the week, gents and ladies, so come along and join in the fun.

A special welcome to newcomers on Sunday mornings at 9.45am.
