WALLIS Lake Soccer teams begin training this week for the 2010 Premier League season.
After a successful 2009 season in both reserves and first grade, we are looking to build on this base to have an even better year in 2010. Training will be on Monday and Wednesday nights between 6pm and 8pm at Boronia Park.
The club is asking any players who would like to try out for the squad to come along to training and see how they go.
“This year we are trying to make the selection process as fair as possible to all trialists, we will be assessing players over a period of time rather than two trial matches only,” Peter Summers said.
During this assessment period, running from now until March, players will measured on their skill level, playing ability in trial games, commitment to training and skill sessions, attitude, ability to adapt to new playing systems, ability to take direction from coach’s and all the other things that make an elite player. All players are invited and will be well looked after during this trial period.
Wallis Lake would like to announce that the coaches for 2010 and 2011 are Steve Booth in First Grade and George Ponte in Reserve Grade. Steve and George coached last year and have a very good plan outlined for the next two seasons to continue to improve the results of the squad.
Both coaches are also totally committed to individual as well as team improvement and have a guideline in place to assist all players to improve their own skills and performances. Some of these initiatives will be top-level skill training sessions from outside sources, a variety of training techniques and a number of trial matches against teams which play different styles, to allow the players to learn to adapt to all circumstances.
Any player queries can be directed to Peter Summers 0428 288 155 or just turn up at Boronia Park.
