Racing to regional’s

Five Tea Gardens runners represented Medowie Little Athletics at the zones carnival held at Raymond Terrace on December 1 and 2, and have made it to the regional championships to be held on February 16 and 17 at Coffs Harbour.

The zones results were as follows:

Matthew Williams in the under nine boys was placed 3rd in high jump, 2nd in 800m, 4th in 200m and 4th in 400m. Megan Markham in the under nine girls was placed 4th in the 200m and 4th in the 400m. Shannon Markham in the under 11 girls was placed 1st in high jump and 3rd in long jump. Carl Williams in the under 11 boys was placed 1st in 1500m, 3rd in 400m and 1st in the 800m. Mitchell Markham in the under 14 boys was placed 1st in the 1500m, 1st in the 3000m, 3rd in the triple jump and 1st in the 800m.

The best performances at the two day zones carnival were: Mitchell Markham who won three of the four events he participated in. He ran a personal best time of 5m16 and won the 1500m, a personal best and win in the 3000m in 12m06 and a personal best finishing 3rd in the triple jump with a jump of 8m87.

Carl Williams set a personal best time of 5m34 and won the 1500m, a personal best running 3rd in the 400m in a time of 1m15 and ran very close to his best time over the 800m. Shannon Markham personal best came with a high jump of 1m15.

Matthew Williams achieved a personal best running the 1500m in 2m59, and a personal best over 400m in 1m20.

Mitchell, Carl, Matthew and Megan are exceptional little runners who continue to improve with time.

They will all do Tea Gardens proud at the regional championships.
