Runners sprint into second year

05 Mar, 2008 01:07 PM
It is only a few weeks into our second year as a group and we can already say that we are going to have an excellent running year.

Everyone has been improving and certainly enjoying their Sunday morning activity with the group.

Brad Markham only took up distance running last year and Peter Brown is better known for his swimming ability.

These are but two who have greatly improved and always look forward to their Sunday runs.

Long time distance runners like Colin Bertram, Breton Gibbs and Allan Wilson are still passionate about their running as are Peter Hodges, Mike Bailey and Graeme Johnson.

The younger members of our group have exceeded themselves. Tim Louden is without any doubt the best we have in town, he is training hard and will be very competitive in whatever event he chooses to tackle.

Mitchell Markham did very well at both zones and regional championships; Mitchell is having a few minor injury problems and will bounce back as soon as he is right.

Dylan Tennyson and Nash and Brent Johnson are also very keen.

Carl and Matthew Williams zone and regional championship representations could not be faulted.

Carl won a third in the 1500m and as a result will be running at the state championships in Sydney on March 15 and 16, we wish him the very best.

Our girls have also been doing well, Shannon Markham has run in the zones and regional championships and Megan Markham has run in the zones.

Karen Markham and Narelle Murray are finding it impossible not to turn up for their Sunday morning walk.

Finally a note of gratitude to Maria and Jock Williams for helping when they can.
