HAYLEY Follett’s hard work paid off at the NSW Triathlon Time Trial Titles in Gunnedah, where she claimed the title of State Triathlon Time Trial Champion.
Competing in 35 degree heat, Follett bagged first in the 400m swim and 10km bike ride and finished fifth in the 4km run, giving her the overall place of first, to the delight of her family and friends on the sidelines.
Not to be left out, Follett’s younger sister, Amelia collected silver the following day in Gunnedah at the State Triathlon Junior Tour.
Young Follett swam into fifth place before the bike leg and a one kilometre run shot her into second place. After her time trial championship Hayley also competed, finishing up with the bronze.
She has been selected as a finalist for the 2009 Hunter Region School Sports Star award which recognises the sporting achievements of one boy and girl from both primary and secondary schools in the Hunter Region.
The young athlete is nominated for cycling, swimming and triathlon.
The award will be announced later this month at a ceremony in Newcastle.
