A MEETING of interested parties recently attended the Plough Inn Hotel at Bulahdelah and formed the Bulahdelah Rugby Union Club.
Bulahdelah district already have 11 players playing rugby union in the Mid North Coast Zone and because of that interest, together with the interest in Bulahdelah Central School, a rugby union club has been formed to play in a new local competition, Midcoast Rugby in 2007.
A game has been organised to be played at 2.30pm on Saturday, August 19, between the Forster Dolphins and the Old Bar Clams.
This game will be played at the Bulahdelah Showground and there may well be a junior game played before that at the same venue as a curtain raiser to the main game, commencing at 1.30pm.
Entry to the game is free and there will be refreshments available. The new Bulahdelah Rugby Club look forward to a big turnout on the day.
Many of the players playing for the Dolphins live in the Bulahdelah district and the junior game organisers hope it will be between a Bulahdelah junior team and a Forster Dolphins junior team.
There will be a further meeting of interested people at the Plough Inn Hotel Bulahdelah, 6.30pm on August 9.
The committee is busy recruiting players, organising sponsorship proposals and looking to enlist further help on the committee and coaching panel. In 2007 there will be a number of rugby gala days held in Bulahdelah, which will show off the local talent as well as bring to Bulahdelah teams from the Midcoast area.
Midcoast Rugby will bring an exciting brand of rugby to Bulahdelah, and considering the travelling time from one competition to another is only an hour and a half, all the games will be local and exciting.
If you are interested in being involved, whether as a player, a supporter or committee person, contact either Barry Creighton or Wade Buchan at the Plough Inn Hotel Bulahdelah on 4997 4285.
