Hawks winning streak tumbles

14 May, 2009 10:13 AM
TEA Gardens Hotel Hawks have hit a hurdle in their four game winning streak coming down to Central Wyong last weekend.

The 44 points to 12 score line is a wake up call for the team who were interrupted by some positional changes through injury and availability.

Best for the Hawks was Clayton Bloomfield and Jason Purdon. Brooke Roach tried everything to lift the side, and Matt Browne played himself to a stand still. Ryan Saunders had a strong defensive game, and Metui Vaipulu hit the ball up strongly from the wing. The return to football by Toby Coates was a plus for the side. Recovering from major knee surgery, he played a sound game at fullback. Tries were scored by Josh Simms and Trent Saunders. Award for best forward went to Jason Purdon, best back Metui Vaipulu, supporter’s award to Jason Purdon while the referees best and fairest went to Brooke Roach, and player’s player to Clayton ‘Slider’ Bloomfield.

Next week the Hawks are at home to West Maitland. The game will kick off at 2.30pm on Sunday May 24. Contact 0427 602197 for Tea Gardens Hawks Football Club information.
