FORMER Myall River Juniors have taken out both the under 17s and 16s grand finals for Raymond Terrace at the weekend.
Against premiership favourites Wallsend Maryland, the under 17s Matt Cookson, Tom King, Corey Johnston, Guy Germon and Jay Reynolds were part of the Raymond Terrace team who managed to hold out the strong side, 22 – 20 at Keith Barry Oval, Toronto.
The first half saw Raymond Terrace dish out plenty of defensive punishment to a much bigger Wallsend side, taking Raymond Terrace to an 18-8 lead at halftime. Wallsend Maryland came back in the second half, but with their defence was challenged, Raymond Terrace held the Wallsend side off their own goal line on numerous occasions.
The boys would like to thank coach Phil McMahon and all staff who were involved throughout the year for their tireless efforts and hope they can do it all again next season.
Meanwhile at Glendale Oval, the Raymond Terrace under 16s division four, beat Aberdeen 26 – 22.
Coached by Glenn Bartlett, with local boys Josh Jones, Liam Gleeson, Zac Allen and Ben Grainger, the side started the season off on a shakey start, losing the first two games, before going on the finish the season unbeaten.
