THE Myall River Junior Rugby League teams each played their games at home last weekend.
The games were scheduled for the Bulahdelah showground however the ground was closed due to wet weather.
The Myall River 12s were defeated by Valentine 28 points to 0.
The team are struggling to win a game in their first year, but are showing improvement in each game.
Best and fairest points went to Soloman Keys (3), who tackled strongly all day, hooker Clint Tansey (2) and fullback Car Williams (1).
Coach’s points went to Connor McIntosh.
The 12s play Belmont North at Myall Park on Saturday with kick off at 9.30am.
The Bulahdelah Bowling Club Myall River team defeated Shortland 24 points to 20 during a very entertaining game for all spectators.
Strong games in the backs from Joel Evans and Nick Clarke were supported by Guy Germon and Sam Lucas in the forwards.
Centre Mitchell Aquilina had an outstanding game scoring two tries while Tom King also played well as he scored a great try down the left field during the game.
Matt Cookson had a busy day, scoring a try, and converting four from four.
The 15s will play Waratah at Myall Park this Saturday with a 10.30am start.
The Myall River 17s were defeated by Cardiff 30 points to 24.
The home side was down 18 points to 0 at half time after an undisciplined display of football.
The team’s commitment was questioned by the coach during the break.
In a stirring second half effort, Myall River bounced back to lead 24 points to 18 with 12 minutes to go.
Unforced errors saw Cardiff score to equal and then cross in the corner to seal the game, with two minutes to go.
Tries were scored by Mitch Hayne, James Wiseman, Luke Benson, and Tom Evans.
Mitch Hayne converted four from four.
Best forward for Myall River was Tom Evans and best back was Mitch Malonne.
Best and fairest points went to Luke Benson (3), James Wiseman (2) and Marty Feeney (1).
The coach’s award went to Elliot Gibbs.
Myall River will play South Lakes this Saturday at Myall Park with kick off at 11.30am.
The Tea Gardens Hotel sponsored NRL tipping competition is running well.
Out in front are John Bartyn and Rob Smith.
Those not in contention are still able to win the draw for a weekend away for two at a Nelson Bay resort, by picking a full eight game round.
