THE Tea Gardens Hawks ended a run of losses with a convincing win against Wallsend at Maryland Oval last weekend.
After weeks of doubts and struggle to stay positive, the player's commitment was rewarded with a 44 point to 28 win.
The team got off to an early start with a try from a charge down, and kept their momentum up during both halves of football in this game.
In an all round effort, standout players for the Hawks were Ben Burgess, Toby Coates and Shane Ping. Luke Worth and Trent Murphy played non-stop, and five eight Johnno Halloran gave good direction around the park.
Chris Sheals effort in the centres was sound, with a strong defensive display.
Highlights of the game were Ben Burgess move to a running role in the second row. His combination in defence with fellow back rowers Isaac Noake and Luke Worth was outstanding.
Shane Pings move to hooker had positive results, giving more direction from the dummy half position. His defensive role was also stepped up.
Explosive fullback Toby Coates gave the side more impact at both ends of the field.
Luke Thompson's 'toot toot' running style close to the line resulted in a try with a number of defenders left on the track.

A club meeting will be held on Wednesday night (June 28) at the Tea Gardens Hotel at 7:30pm. On the agenda will be the "golden oldies" day planned for the weekend of August 13, and a Hundred Club event set down for September. The club also needs assistance on home game dates to run the canteen. Last home game the shop looked like it would have to be shut due to lack of help.
