On Saturday, September 8, the number two sportsground in Newcastle was the venue for the Hunter Junior Rugby Union grand final games.
Teams from the under 11s to under 18s competed in the gala day that saw several Tea Gardens Hawks Nest boys play in their respective age group grand finals.
Liam Mason and James Farmer were part of the Wanderers under 13 premiership winning team against Singleton, with Chris Farmer playing in the winning Maitland under 15 premiership side against Southern Beaches.
Other boys who played in their respective grand finals were Michael Howell in the under 16 Maitland team, and Jack Stonestreet, Matthew Palmer and Emerson Burgess who all played for the Wanderers under 12 team.
2007 also saw Christopher Farmer selected for representative duties in the Northern Province under 15 side.
Other local boys who played in 2007 were James Howell in the under 18 Maitland team, Zac and Harrison Weir in the under 14 and under 11 Wanderers and Tim Farmer in the under 11 Wanderers.
All the boys enjoyed their season and are looking forward to pulling on the boots again in 2008.
