The Myall Masters Swimming Club recently held its annual general meeting at the Tea Gardens Hotel.
Members re-elected the following executive officers for 2008: president Peter Brown, vice president Barb Gurr, secretary Leon Bobako and treasurer Bob Voigt.
The executive committee will be supported by the elected committee members: publicity officer Rhonda Bobako, social secretary Rod Andrews and safety officer Carol Andrews.
Leon Bobako has been retained as the coach for the club.
There have been excellent attendances at training over the past month, with members enjoying the return of the warmer water.
The club has now achieved its highest membership since it started in 2004.
Training (under the watchful eyes of Leon Bobako and assistant Rob Hodgson) has been solid with our swimmers continuing to develop good swimming technique and personal determination.
Coach Leon is in training for the FINA World Masters Swimming Championships which will be held in Perth during April.
At the 2004 world championships held in Italy Leon won a bronze medal in the 55 to 59 years, 50m breastroke.
Leon appreciates that he is now swimming at the end of his age group but is hopeful he will swim good times.
It is hard to believe that the end of the summer season is near. To mark the end of a successful season, members will join in friendship and fun at a Hawaiian theme dinner at the Tea Gardens Hotel starting at 7.15pm on Monday, March 31.
Dressing in the theme shouldn’t be too hard, pop a sarong or towel round your swimmers when you leave training, just make sure you are dry.
Members and their friends are welcome to attend.
Contact Leon on 4997 1878 or Rod Andrews on 4997 1770 to advise your attendance.
