Choppy seas test rowers

18 Jan, 2012 12:00 AM
TEA Gardens Hawks Nest Surf Life Saving Club rowing teams battled choppy seas to compete in round six of the Peters Boat Series at Black Smiths Beach on Sunday.

"It tested all the crews out," trainer Greg Ross said.

"Everyone was a bit sore and sorry the next day."

Mr Ross said the Masters crew had been performing well throughout the series and scored a place in the finals on the weekend where they came fourth.

The under 23s came third in one of its rounds on Sunday and fourth in two.

Round six was nearly cancelled because of lightning earlier in the day but the teams braved rough conditions.

Tea Gardens Hawks Nest club rowing is always looking for new members. The competition season runs from October until the end of March but the teams train throughout winter.

Anyone over 16, male or female is invited to join. If you interested in giving rowing a try contact Greg Ross on 0404 473 304.
