Hawks get behind junior league team

15 Feb, 2012 12:00 AM
THE Tea Gardens Hawks have resolved to support the Myall River Junior League in any effort to form a team in 2012.

Indications from junior players has shown support for an under 14s side, and possibly a 16s team. Any other teams will be based on player numbers, and more importantly parents support. To field any team the club will require a minimum of three support staff, which needs to include trainers and managers.

A meeting will be held at the Tea Gardens Country Club on Wednesday, February 22 to gauge support for formation of teams. The meeting will get underway at 6pm, and will precede the Tea Gardens Hawks meeting. In Hawks news the 2012 side is in preparation with good numbers turning out at training.

The club expects a trial match as early as March 10. The turn out of ex Myall River junior players is encouraging.

The NRL tipping competition will get underway on Thursday March 1, with the opening match between the Knights and St George Illawarra. Books are now on sale at the Tea Gardens Newsagency, or the Tea Gardens Hotel. You can contact 0429 846 747 for Hawks information, or email nreynolds.2@bigpond.com or check the Hawks Tea Gardens facebook page for updates and events.
