GRESFORD visited the Karuah RSL Sharks this week in C grade while A grade had the bye.
The Sharks are still sitting in second place on the C grade ladder despite its loss to competition front runners Paterson last week.
This week facing up to fifth placed Gresford was a match the Sharks needed to win to keep momentum going.
Gresford won the toss and elected to bat, they were under pressure from tight bowling from Tom King and Trent Page.
Page returning from Hunter Valley Junior Rep duty where he had taken the outstanding match figures of seven for 18 and was maintaining that form picking up two early wickets while King maintained good tight line and length. Josh Whitby continued the good work picking up a couple of wickets to have Gresford on the back foot losing five for 27 at one stage only a 31 run partnership averted complete disaster.
Spin bowlers Bob Zelkie and Tige Ingram picked up one and three wickets respectively before Joacb Gimbert finished off the Gresford innings for 95 runs.
The Sharks looked like they had taken the Gresford bait by losing two early wickets to be two for 17 not the start they were hoping for, however Paul Haddow and Graeme Johnson steadied the Shark attack with a 42 run partnership, Johnson departing for 20.
Haddow then combined with Tom King putting on another 25 to get the Sharks close to the Gresford total before Haddow was out for 22.
Tom King remained not out and with Josh Whitby got the Sharks to the required run toal for the loss of five wickets.
Next week the Sharks travel to Seaham.
