Tea Gardens Runners training hard for next meeting

21 Dec, 2011 12:00 AM
TEA Gardens Runners had its annual presentation day on Sunday December 4 at the Lions Lookout.

The club which has runners, joggers and walkers come along to train every Sunday morning caters for both the young and old.

There is a choice to cover between one and ten kilometres each Sunday. Some are social runners and some are there to compete against their own times.

Each of the members received an achievement trophy for commitment to the club.

Laura Burr received a trophy for best female distance runner and Paul Rochester was honoured with the Mike Bailey Memorial Medal.

The medal is in memory of Mr Bailey who died in 2008 and was a passionate supporter of Tea Gardens Runners.

Tea Gardens Runner's trainer Charles Ringuet believes there is some of the best runners in the area in the club.

"Most of my kids will go to regionals," Mr Ringuet said.

"I'm very proud of them. They're training hard and they deserve it."
