THE Myall Coast Mudcrabs had a resounding 80-0 victory which included 12 tries and 10 conversions in their fourth round clash with Harrington Hurricanes at picturesque Harrington last Saturday. The Mudcrabs remain top of the table in the Lower Mid North Coast competition.
The improvements shown by the team since the start of this year's competition is quite remarkable with a number of players making their debut in rugby only four weeks ago. I refer to Chris Kirby, Travis Allen, Luke Romstein and Alex Jervis. Alex, who had previous experience in the round ball game, is proving a more than handy place kicker with a record of seven from eight conversions on Saturday.
Together with the debutants, the experience of players in the forward pack is proving to be a strong mix and providing the platform for this side to improve week on week. The side is not getting overconfident after its four victories but is now showing determination to do well in its next matches against Taree Rats at its home ground Myall Park and last year's runner up Foster Tuncurry Dolphins to be played at Foster.
The entire squad of 24 players has trained consistently since the start of the season and have become sponges for further rugby knowledge from Hugh 'Flash' Gordon who has extensive overseas coaching experience and has been an invaluable asset to coach Ian Felto in the quest to further fine tune this side.
Myall Mudcrabs next home game will be against Taree Rats at Myall Park on May 26 where a large crowd is expected.
Stay tuned in the coming weeks for the publication of the Mudcrabs new team song
Knockon.
