ON FRIDAY, April 20 in sunshine after a week of rain, the Anzac memorial golf game took place at Hawks Nest Golf Club.
Eighty nine players took part in a fun game with nearest Aussie Flag, a target ring to get onto, lots of nearest to the pin with morning tea with traditional Anzac Biscuits.
The prestige perpetual trophy donated by Ron Franks, in memory of his mate Ron Eagleton who was in 'Z' Force 1944.
This cup has been in play now since 2004.
Ron Franks was in attendance on the day and presented the winners with their trophies and Terry Munright gave a welcome speech and recited a poem about Australian servicemen from our older veterans to recent ones.
This year the cup was won by John and Sylvia Bolden, Sandra Hargraves and Les Davies on 95 points, they were also presented with individual trophies. Well done team.
In second place was Dennis and Jane Poole and Phil Jones and Yvonne Pittman on 93.
Nearest to pin was Brian Jones Jnr for the men and Barbara Birmingham for the ladies.
Raffles on the day were all generously donated. Tea Gardens RSL Sub branch would like to thank the many donors for the day, helpers behind the scenes, the golf club for using their facilities and the chef for a lovely lunch.
Monies raised on the day amounted to $1,073 which will go towards up-keep of Anzac Park including the mounting of a new artillery piece recently purchased.
