BULAHDELAH Bypass was one of the winners in this year's federal budget with $303 million of continual funding dedicated to the project.
However Paterson MP Bob Baldwin has hit back at the announcement, claiming the funding was nothing new.
"It was in the budget under Howard when work commenced," Mr Baldwin said.
"The work had started and it has to be completed."
The Bulahdelah upgrade project was approved by the NSW minister for planning in 2007 and is jointly funded by state and federal governments.
In the recent federal budget $82 million was allocated for 2011-12, $59 million for 2012-13 and $26 million for 2013-14.
The upgrade of the Pacific Highway at Bulahdelah involves the construction of about 8.6 kilometres of four lane divided road with an eastern bypass of the Bulahdelah township.
It is expected to be completed by late this year. The community is invited to an information session on Tuesday, May 22 from 6pm until 8pm at the Bulahdelah Bowling Club.
Information will be provided on the progress of the project and the upcoming project milestones. Key members of the project team will be available on the evening to answer any questions. Please RSVP for catering purposes by calling 1800 688 153.
