RAVI'S Karma, the debut novel by Tea Gardens author Ronald Stewart will be launched at North Arm Cove Community Centre this weekend.
Member for Paterson Bob Baldwin will be speaking at the launch which is set to begin at 2pm on Sunday.
The book follows life adventures of a young Sri Lankan boy, from escaping the Tamil Tigers to his involvement with refugees in a people overboard incident off Christmas Island.
Mr Stewart said his book was inspired by his strong interest in topical issues and boat people. While he has not been to Sri Lanka himself, trips to India and Thailandstimulated ideas for his book.
"It was a fun book to write," Mr Stewart said.
Mr Stewart said the novel began to evolve after he came up to Tea Gardens to retire about five years ago.
Mr Stewart is part of the North Arm Cove Writers Group, which he described as a small and enthusiastic club.
"Writing is not easy, you have got to keep at it," he said.
"We help each other to get through it."
Afternoon tea will be provided by the writers group at the launch and a signed copies of the book will be available for $25. Mr Stewart said the launch will have a bit of a Bollywood theme with Indian food and music.
Everyone is welcome, to RSVP contact Mr Stewart on 04314 00 106.
His books are also available from Hawks Nest Newsagency, Tea Gardens Ice Cream Shack and the post office.
