GREAT Lakes women who are pregnant or have recently given birth and are experiencing mental health problems will now have access to specialised support services.
Member for Myall Lakes, Stephen Bromhead said the landmark, state-wide Outreach Perinatal Service was launched by the NSW Government to help ensure region women could access this vital support.
"For far too long women living outside our cities have not had timely or expert support, and regional women have had much poorer health outcomes as a result," Mr Bromhead said.
Mothers should contact their GP or Community Health Centre if they have any concerns about mental health issues where medical professional will now have access the appropriate support services.
